Sugar Gliders!

What is a Sugar Glider?

A sugar glider is a small, gliding possum that belongs to the marsupial family. It is called a ''sugar glider'' because of its tendency to eat nectarous foods and glide through the air, like a flying squirrel. The sugar glider is native to eastern and northern Australia mainland and Tasmania. They are nocturnal and sleep in their nests during the day and are active at night. At night they hunt insects and small vertebrates along with nectarous foods. They spend most of their lives in trees! The sugar glider has a body comparable to a squirrel with a long tail. But males are longer then the females and also have a bald patch on their head and chests. A sugar glider has a thick soft fur coat that looks blueish-grey with tan and a black stripe from its nose to mid back. The belly, throat and chest are cream colored. It has large eyes to help it see at night and its ears help it listen for prey in the night! Its feet are shaped to make it easier for grooming, with five digits on each foot with claws. The ''patagium'' or membrane that extends from the fifth finger to the first toe. When the legs are stretched out it allows the sugar glider to glide a good distance. Recently sugar gliders have grown especially popular as a family exotic pet. This is because they are highly sociable animals and live in families or groups up to seven. Having a sugar glider as a pet gives the owner the opportunity to create a strong bond between the sugar glider and themselves. So if you are going to get a sugar glider, know that they are only sold in certain states in the United States! Glide on.

How much wood can a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

It really depends on the woodchuck! Some woodchucks are smaller than others depending on the age and sex of the woodchucks. On average a woodchuck can chuck 35 cubic feet of dirt, when digging a burrow. If it were would it would probably be around 700 lbs that a woodchuck could chuck of wood. But there are some outside factors that effect the ''woodchucking'', like if the woodchuck wants to even chuck wood that day, or if they need to. Along with how good at chucking that woodchuck is! I guess a woodchuck could chuck as much wood as it wants to... Making this common riddle not really able to be answered!!

Puppies Or Kittens?

Whats Cuter?

Do you think puppies or kittens are cuter? Puppies are extremely cute and cuddly while are kittens. But puppies are known to be a big handful for their antics while kittens who are still a lot to care for are more independent animals. Whats not to love about fury baby animals? Whether its puppies or cats their still very loving and cute to watch. There are countless breeds of puppies and kittens, making the look of the animal differ from breed to breed. How cute the puppy or kitten is depends on the breed, age and maybe even the gender. Golden retriever puppies are especially cute because of their golden color and soft fur. Money kittens, or "Maneki Neko" are cute because of their multi-colored fur and fuzzy kitten fur. "Maneki Neko" comes from the term ''beckoning cat'' which means welcoming cat, or fortunate cat. So as for who's cuter, puppies or kittens? They are both just as cute!!

Pet of the Day!

Kinkajou
This cute baby animal is a 'kinkajou' also commonly known as a ''honey bear''. Kinkajous are found in the the rainforest and are mammals native to Central and South America. Although some may think it is endangered, it is really not! Kinkajous are just rarely seen because of their extremely nocturnal habits. Even though they are not endangered they are still threatened greatly for the want for there fur which sadly is used to make wallets and horse saddles. These cute little creatures can live up to 40 years and when grown up range from 3-10 lbs. Kinkajous feed mainly on fruit and enjoy fruit! They are known for their long tongues which they use to get to fruit and to get the nectar from flowers! Kinkajous are sometimes kept as exotic pets ( who wouldn't want a cute kinkajou?) and are playful and quiet animals but have shown signs of aggression.

Cutest of the Day: Baby Hedgehog

This baby hedgehog takes the Cutest of the Day award! All snuggled in a bundle of love. Hedgehogs are known for their spiny like fur but there is a lot more to them then there pokiness! Hedgehogs are not native to America making them rare and especially cute to pay attention to. Although they are often mistaken as a porcupine they are completely different and do not share the poisonous spines of a porcupine, making them much more appealing as a cute baby animal! Hedgehogs are very defensive animals and roll up into a ball to protect themselves, so what looks adorable to us is really a defense mechanism. Regardless, this baby hedgehog deserves Cutest of the Day for its snuggled up cuteness.
